Our home is primarily defined by the physical structure in which we live. It serves as a sanctuary that nurtures our sense of belonging, shapes our identities and offers refuge from the outside world. Our home is another shell around us, a second skin. In her visual diary project 'Home With A View', photographer Estelle Slegers Helsen explores the concept of home through a daily glimpse into the world.
Where is home? Is it merely the place where we live or the place where we stay for the day? What can our external view reveal about the interior of the place we inhabit? Do the answers lie within the vistas from the place where she spends her time? What do the images tell about the photographer’s life?
This inspiring collection of snapshots begins with Estelle’s move from the continent and her arrival in the UK on September 25, 2018. Since then, she has captured one photo from a window every day. As of July 30, 2025, she amassed 2,500 images and the collection continues to grow.
Here are a few examples.
